The One World Theatre, while a relative newcomer to the Austin scene, has quickly established itself as an intimate, elegant forum, showcasing an eclectic mix of world-renowned performers. One World started as an educational outreach program, bringing performances into schools to expand knowledge of world cultures. The theater was built in 1999, and, since it opened, the diversity of musical styles has been impressive: Herbie Hancock, Roy Clark, McCoy Tyner, George Benson, Sergio Mendes, Rodney Crowell, Branford Marsalis, Cowboy Junkies, Jerry Jeff Walker, Pat Metheny, Little Feat, and Keb Mo’ have all played this unique venue, whose mission it is to “educate and enrich audiences of all ages, nurturing the cultural awareness and artistic potential of our children and building community through diversity.”
