Although the population hovers at around 500, Turkey explodes each April with their exciting annual event honoring Bob Wills. Wills, one of the undisputed creators of Western Swing music (a sub-genre of both jazz and country music), was raised on a farm close to the town center, and spent his formative years there until leaving to seek his fortune as a fiddler.

Turkey features an historic hotel, a monument dedicated to Wills and the Bob Wills Museum – chock full of memorabilia, posters, news clippings and photographs. The Bob Wills Reunion attracts not only original members of the Texas Playboys, but fans from across the globe come to celebrate the life and music of the hero of Turkey Texas.
